Some thoughts on the mobile revolution

People keep talking about “mobile”, how it’s going to be very important (i.e. “we have mobile first policy” …) but recently it really struck me: most talking about mobile revolution have abolutely no idea. They just don’t get it. Which is a bit sad, actually, especially if you think that big media companies are still struggling to make sense of what to do with classic, web-based Internet. Mobile is a revolution can only be understood by mobile users.

Onswipe - entering the era of tablet publishing

Classic web is dying, even if slowly. I will write longer post about that soon. In the meantime, try to use Flipboard for a while … and you will notice that classic portals/blogs are just dinosaurs. They might not know it yet but it doesn’t change the facts. If you are using WordPress, there is a cure called Onswipe. It’s not perfect (in fact it is buggy as hell) but shows a lot of promise.

My old demos finally on YouTube

A friend of mine did something I was too lazy to do for a long time - a YouTube version of our old demos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWe1SmHWxE4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RbkCS2xtuU Seems like it was ages ago. I have great memories of these times, and have to admit I miss coding just for the pure fun of it. Commercial software development might be fun (especially when making games) but it’s really hard to compare.

Why PC sales are slowing down

There has been a lot of talk lately about how tablets are eating into the classic PC market, that people don’t need PCs any more, and how doomed they are. It’s true that we are witnessing a decline of the PC platform, and that this trend will only intensify. At the same time I don’t believe that right now it has much to do with rapid growth of tablet market. There are many other resons it is bad to be a PC vendor right now.

Is it time to try an Adroid phone now?

I’ve been an IPhone user for loong time. While I did not own the “1G”, I have my 3G for more than two years now. And, to be honest, it begins to show its age. For quite some time, it wasn’t getting any of the new cool stuff in iOS, and iOS version 4 actually should have never been released on iPhone 3G because it makes a lot of stuff run noticeably slower.

Reboot, this time only visual :)

I just got the invoice for the domain, and decided that if I’m paying for it it might at least look half-decent. I no web designer, for me it’s mostly difference between “it sucks” and “ok”, with rare addition (<1%) of “awesome”. This theme is “ok” and I doubt I’m going to heavily tweak it, if at all. I am also doing some experiments with Facebook integration - sharing links to post is the first to go, later hopefully commenting with Facebook account and some sort of “fanpage connect” so that anything appearing here gets automatically propagated to my FB profile.
